THE SCIENTIST

*** Electronically Published ***

A brilliant young student in Jim Coulson's Astrophysics class at Cambridge, Harry Roberts is a maverick, stimulating thought and discussion which slowly but surely turn the scientific world upside down. Circumstances and events conspire to convince a sceptical Coulson that Roberts must be right and the rest of the scientific world is wrong. After arranging for Roberts to be sent down, Coulson discovers that he is secretly working on a dangerous experiment which will finally prove his theories. Roberts is killed when his experiment goes unstable, and Coulson reaps the academic distinctions and rewards resulting from his ideas. Coulson marries his old girl-friend Francis, who had left him to have an affair with Roberts, and after his own death when a prototype fusion reactor explodes she reveals the truth behind the greatest revolution in scientific history.

WHAT READERS SAY ABOUT "THE SCIENTIST"

A marvellous story. Easy to read, lots of science in it, a bit over the top for most people but most enjoyable none the less. I've read books that couldn't approach this for content, style and characterization. Good work.
